Canton Trade.

I attach copy of Hong Kong letter of April 23rd.

I do hope you will not get sucked in by this very

typical piece of Japanese bluff, which our people

must resist, if we are ever going to get Canton opened

again. As you know, it is a case not only of the

Canton/Hong Kong trade, but also of the Canton/China

trade, which is much more important.
